Process engineer Valentina Bordei: "The most typical thing about my working day is that it is rarely typical".

"Before I started my master's thesis at thyssenkrupp Polysius, I didn't know that cement production had anything to do with combustion, and I had never heard the word "clinker" either," Valentina Bordei reports with a smile. That has changed fundamentally in the last seven years. "My favorite thing is always to work directly with customers. It's a great feeling to actually be able to help our customers and fix problems. To see our engineering translate into something tangible. Sometimes we have to improvise. I'm thinking, for example, of a training session held in French with control station drivers of a prototype in France. I hadn't spoken French since school and the control station drivers hardly spoke any English. But in the end, it just comes down to a human fit and both sides working together openly."

My favorite thing is always to work directly with the customer.

Valentina Bordei, Process Engineer

Incidentally, this is not only true for Valentina Bordei when working with customers: In addition to her main tasks already mentioned, she also supports her colleagues in the digitalization department at thyssenkrupp Polysius and is a member of the Value Engineering Team. Diversity and new challenges are what she loves! "The most typical thing about my working day is that it is rarely typical".

And Valentina Bordei also loves trying new things in her free time. "My hobbies vary over time: I like science fiction series, movies, books, hiking, and before Corona, I was drawn to faraway places on vacation: for example, Morocco, Kyrgyzstan, or India. But DIY projects, like a homemade lamp, are also on the agenda.
